Taking a Cruise: How To Avoid The Kids

Untitled Document

What can be better for the nerves and the over stressed brain than a long cruise on a ship around the Atlantic, stopping in at interesting places to take in the sights and spending all of your time and money lazing around, playing, and eating good food?

Nothing. Now factor in irritations like being splashed when you are trying to read a book by the pool, or being squirted with a Super Soaker 9000 on your way to the dining room, or even nearly being knocked overboard by a group of pre teens chasing one another around on the ship's deck. In that case, there can be nothing more detrimental to those very same nerves.

Vacation is a time for relaxation, and while it hurts to say it sometimes children don't contribute to that relaxing atmosphere. Who wants to be annoyed and irritated by rowdy kids on board of a luxurious, "peaceful" and costly cruise ship? Whether you have kids of your own at home or not, they can be nerve-racking but sometimes they are one of those things that just cannot be avoided.

So, does this mean that you can't take a cruise if you are looking for a little peace? Of course not, but ship's rules alone are not going to make distracted parents who think their responsibilities end at the gangplank pay attention to their youngsters. If children bother you, it is best to do a little research on the different options you have available to you before you make finalized vacation plans.

There are some cruise lines out there that don't offer fun

Wow! This product is awesome. Looks like you have put a tremendous amount of effort into creating it. As I began looking at the product, it became clear to me what an incredible tool this is and how much work it must have been to develop it. I love to learn something new so much that I wanted to drop you a line and say thank you. I would have paid $100.00 for this product its that good and important to have. Thank you very much.

activities for kids. At first glance, these might seem to be a bad idea because there aren't any planned activities to keep the young ones out of your hair, but if you think about it it really does make sense. "Family friendly" cruise lines offer planned activities and itineraries for young people for two reasons. First of all, they are establishing future clientele by implanting the love of cruising in young people. Second of all, whether they are discounted or not, ticket sales are ticket sales, and ticket sales equal money! Family friendly cruises encourage parents to bring their children along by offering these "even if you bring them, you won't have to deal with them" children's activities to generate revenue. Of course, cruises like this cause people to bring their kids along when they would have normally left them at home with Grandma.

Also, avoid cruising at times when the kids are out of school. Fewer parents are inclined to call in for their kids during the school year than you would think, and so it is for this reason that the summer months, Christmas, and Spring Break (of course!) are horrible times to cruise if children are not part of your plans.

In that same respect, cruise lines such as Disney, Carnival Cruises, and Princess are not your best bet. These cruises tend to be a lot more geared toward the younger generations and it is pretty hard to avoid them at any time of year. Your best bet would be the Radisson, Celebrity, or Crystal line of cruise ships.
